Frequently asked questions
Why does my Canadian mortgage payment differ from other calculators?
Canadian mortgage interest legally compounds semi-annually (Interest Act, Section 10). The correct monthly rate is (1 + rate/2)^(1/6) − 1. Most US-based mortgage calculators use monthly compounding (rate/12), which gives a slightly different result. CalcHomeRate uses the correct Canadian formula. If you're seeing a discrepancy, the other calculator may be using the US formula for your Canadian mortgage.
How do I report an error in a calculation?
Use the form above and select "Possible error or bug" as the topic. Please include: the tool name, the country toggle setting (CA or US), the values you entered, the result you received, and the result you expected. A screenshot is helpful if you can attach one via email after the form opens your mail client.
Can I embed CalcHomeRate on my website?
For embedding or partnership enquiries, select "Advertising / partnership" in the topic dropdown and describe your use case. We review all embedding requests individually.
Do you offer a white-label version?
